February 2014: One year on
We have now been here for just over a year and what a year it has been! With renovations to do, new guests to welcome and new menus to perfect, we certainly had our work cut out for us in 2013. Slowly recovering from our first hectic festive period, we are now in the process of outlining our plans for the year and what plans they are!
To start off our renovation work for this year, we are in the process of completing our 4th refurbished room which should hopefully be done by next week…all we are waiting on is the bedding which seems to be slowly cycling its way from some isolated warehouse! The room is to be called Benromach and has been generously added to with some whisky and painting items from Gordon & MacPhail, the owners of the distillery. The design for the room was influenced by the beautiful autumnal colours that adorn the surrounding hills, focusing on the vibrant and warming reds that were especially visible in the Copper Beech tree that sits in the corner of our gardens. With Andy Thornton lights, Achica bedding and Porcelanosa bathroom ware, the room’s aura is one of warmth and is the perfect room for those couples who are hoping to get away for a night. Snuggle up on the bench seating in the turret, adorned with Pozzi’s of Elgin cushions made with Osborne and Little fabric, with a good book and relax the night away.
Continuing with our renovation work, we hope to have started the downstairs bathroom suite with accessible and baby-changing facilities by the middle of the year which will include the transformation of the reception area into one that is spatially representative of the building itself and which allows for a more relaxed and comfortable checking in experience. We will also be refurbishing another of our bedrooms in order to give us a further option for twin accommodation which should hopefully be starting in the next couple of months. Moving beyond this year’s renovation plans, we are finally able to focus on our Spé fine dining menu which has unfortunately, until now, taken a back seat to festive plans, Chefs’ holidays and illnesses. The concepts are there, the dishes have been designed and now we need to complete this process and begin taking bookings! Until the completion date, we can still offer a fine dining menu by request so please get in touch.
